It was POURING out. Thunder and lightning crashed over your head, making you wince and whimper. You were alone, something you hated, and it was also storming, which scared you to death. You hated storms, they scared you so much..
When you were little, you and your greatest friend Ludwig had gotten lost in the forest when it was storming out. Back then, you weren't as scared as you are now. But, lightning hit the nearest tree and fell, causing you to break your arm when it fell on you. Ludwig had stayed with you the whole time. God, you loved him so much..you wished he were there.
The loudest thunder crack that had happened during this storm practically exploded outside. You let out a scared cry, bringing your knees up to your chest on the couch. You were in the basement, watching the tiny window at ground level and rain beat it mercilessly, as if trying to get in. More lightning flashed, almost making you want to cry.
You jumped as you heard the front door suddenly open. But didn't you lock it..? Oh well, the voice that called to you almost made you feint in happiness.
"______!" Ludwig called. "Are you home?"
"I-I'm down here!!" you called, stuttering, from the basement. You heard the front door closing. His loud footsteps went down the stairs, looking around in the darkness. The light was dimmed, which showed that the lightbulb was being a bitch. But you didn't have any extras.
You smiled as he sat down next to you on the couch.
"Why did you come?" you asked, shifting slightly, so you could look at him better. He still had his stern look. "It's pouring outside. You could have gotten sick!"
Ludwig smiled slightly. God, those smiles..
"I know your're scared of the storm." he asnwered with a heavy thick accent. You swore your heart melted. He came to make sure you were ok.. How sweet..
You looked at his hair. A few hairs stuck out, most likely from the rain. The rest of it was slicked back, like he inteded it to be.
He blushed madly as you stuck your hand up to slick the rest of it back, running your fingers through his hair. Eventually, all of it stayed back.
"Uhh..Danke.." he said lightly. You just smiled.
"So, wanna watch a movie?"
You got up to get something, until the thunder crackled. You quickly sat back down, clutching onto Ludwig like a mad woman. He brought his arm under the crook of your knees, and one arm under your torso, lifting you a little so you could sit on his lap. He smiled as you blushed, pressing his forehead lightly to yours. "It's ok." he whispered, closing his eyes. "I'm here."
You closed your eyes blissfully, opening them as he stood, lifting you like you weighed nothing. "Let's go grab a movie, then." Ludwig whispered, carrying you over to the closet.
"Hey, I have an idea." you smiled. He looked down at you, waiting for an answer. "How about, we close our eyes, and whatever movie we pull out first, we have to watch."
He nodded in agreement. You both closed your eyes, and you reached a hand out carefully, picking your fingers towards the case, and just blidly pulling it out. You opened your eyes, and you started to laugh.
"What?" Ludwig grinned, opening his eyes. "What's so funny?"
"Of course I picked the scariest movie of all time." you smiled, looking down at The Shining in your hands. Of course. You and Ludwig had read the books. He wasn't as freaked out about it as you were, because he's an utter block of emotion. You didn't care. Besides, you were the only one to see those emotions that he hid.
"We don't have to watch it if you don't want to." Ludwig smiled.
"No, but we have to, remember?"
"Oh, all right."
He brought you back to the couch. You stood, to turn the TV on and put in the disk. Eventually, the movie came on, and you sat beside him.
Oh God. Oh God. Oh God Oh God Oh God Oh God. That one part.. With the two little girls on their bikes.. Oh no. Oh Jesus.
Then, the screen flashed, showing a split second of their massacred bodies. Thunder flashed at that moment, causing you to scream and latch on to Ludwig. The power went out.
The TV shut off and you were left in the dark with Ludwig, who wasn't frightened by the movie at all. He chuckled a little. "______, it's ok." he smiled, starting to stroke your hair. You were shaking, fear going through your body like waves. The darkness, the scary movie, and everything. Jesus.
He lightly picked you up like before, pulling you into his lap. You blushed, digging your face into his chest.
"How about ve go find a candle?" he asked, lifting you again. "Vere are they?" he asked, a little more firm now that he knew you were scared.
"The drawer across the room.." you muttered. He followed your directions, careful not to bump into anything, and set you down. You almost whimpered, but he needed to set you down to light the candle.
Ludwig opened the drawer, grabbing a small candle, the holder, and a matchbox. Eventually, the candle was lit, and the room was filled with dim light. You calmed down.
He placed a protective glass case over the flame, with a little hole so oxygen could get through to keep the candle going, the glass making the light brighther. Ludwig handed the now safe candle to you, and you held it tightly as he picked you up. "It's getting late." he stated, walking up the stairs and into the main part of the house, down the hall, then into your room. He set you down on the bed, taking the candle and placing it on the nightstand. He sat down next to you, smiling.
You sat up a little. "Yeah?"
He swallowed, smiling nervously. "I-Ich liebe dich."
You blinked hard. You eventually smiled. "Ich liebe dich auch, Ludwig."
